Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy describes how Rootine: Plant Tracker ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and safeguards your information.
Rootine is designed as a local-first application. Your plant collection, scheduling information, care history, subscription state, and locally saved photo references are normally stored on your device. If you enable Agent Memory, the App also stores the text of your AI conversations and structured records of plant problems and care actions in our Supabase backend so the plant expert can continue from prior sessions. Photos and local photo paths are not stored in Agent Memory.
If you choose to use the App's optional AI Plant Expert (Ask AI) or Plant Identification features:
If you grant location permission, the App may access your approximate or precise device location to determine your climate zone, tailor plant care guidance, and fetch weather information relevant to watering reminders. Coordinates are sent to our weather provider, OpenWeatherMap, when a weather check is performed. Location access is optional, but some climate-aware features may not work correctly without it.
Agent Memory and anonymous community sharing are separate choices. If you opt in to community sharing, the App may upload limited, structured care information to help improve future plant-care guidance and disease or problem-solving insights.
The free version of the App uses Google AdMob to display ads. On iOS, the App may request permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework so advertising partners can use device identifiers to deliver personalized ads. If permission is denied, ads may still be shown, but they may be less personalized.
The App may also include third-party SDKs for advertising, analytics, and attribution-related measurement. These providers may process identifiers, app interaction data, and ad-related data under their own privacy terms.
We use third-party analytics and crash reporting tools, such as Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, to understand app performance, measure feature usage, diagnose crashes, and improve reliability. These tools may collect product interaction data, diagnostic information, and device or app instance identifiers.
In-app purchases, subscriptions, and trials are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
The App requests permission to schedule local notifications on your device. These notifications are built and fired locally by iOS to remind you of due plant care. We do not use remote push servers for these reminders.
Rootine does not require you to provide a name, email address, phone number, or social login. When Agent Memory is enabled, the App creates a pseudonymous Supabase session so row-level security can keep each user's memory separate. The session identifier is used for access control and is not used for advertising.
Raw completed cloud chat and action source records are generally deleted after 180 days. Records tied to an open or monitored plant case and distilled private case history may remain longer so the app can continue the case, unless you delete them. You can clear the current conversation from Ask AI, turn Agent Memory off to stop future cloud syncing, delete a plant to remove that plant's private memory, or use Reset App to delete your private Agent Memory, pseudonymous account, and local app data. Disabling community sharing stops future contributions. Aggregated community statistics that can no longer be linked back to a conversation may remain.
Depending on the features you use, the App may process user content, photos, location, a pseudonymous user identifier, product interaction data, diagnostics, purchases, and advertising data for the purposes described above. The App Store privacy disclosure should be read together with this policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published directly on this URL and updated in-app.
